Public Leadership

Public leadership the ability to lead individuals toward organizational success in reaching goals that provide a need for the public interest, understanding of public-sector issues, being creative, innovative, building trust.

“Leadership as an interactive relationship involving use of power and influence to secure goals and achieve satisfactory rewards.” (Rusaw, 2001)

Leadership involves motivation,inspiring, building relationships among employees and organizational leaders, making decisions,problem solving. The demands of public sector leaderships as compared to the private sector leader can be just as consuming in dealing with multiple roles, delegation, unhappy employees,lack of resources, credible information in passing onward to a team designated in completing tasks and assignments, but most important meeting the public need.
